Getting Started

There is one excellent secret about how to write a good article or book that people will really want to read; and that is to write about something that you are interested in yourself. It's logical really isn't it, if you're enthusiastic about the subject then other people will be as well because enthusiasm is highly contagious! The next rule is to know your subject. If you are only writing a short article for a magazine then you may have enough material in your head already but if you are going to write a book then you will need to go into all the different areas of your subject in some depth so this means you have to do research. Remember what I said on the first page about self-discipline, well this is where it comes in with a vengeance! Research can mean many hours or days or possibly even weeks or months of poring over books, pamphlets, old papers, or any other written media; it could mean a lot of travelling to look at your subject at close hand, it may mean meeting many people to talk about their experiences, thoughts, plans. You are reading this over the Internet; we are blessed by having the finest medium for researching information that the human race has ever produced and it could save you masses of time, but it still cannot eliminate the hard work and dedication that you will have to put in if you are to amass all the information that you will need.

Okay, what specific subjects are you going to write about?
